20 Month x Potty Chronicles

Ribbies,

As promised, I have an update on the potty training situation. Tahir is now 20 Months (almost 2 years old but, not quite), for all of those who hate to count the months. I promise I stop the month age at two years old. Since the divorce announcement, Tahir has very rarely gone to the potty for me. He will sit on the potty and pop up seconds later saying "Yay!" On the weekends, he and his brothers stay with their dad. Tahir has been talking and going potty non-stop for him.

At first, I was a little perturbed as I am the one who started potty training Tahir as soon as he started walking and showed interest in the potty. Their dad reminded me that I had trained Carmelo and Ajani so he has taken the initiative this time around which I could appreciate. With  Tahir being the third child and all around different from his brothers, I guess this is his way of giving me a tough time as a single mom lol

In preparation for full blown potty training, I have stopped nursing Tahir. This is week two operation: no boob. Although today is about potty training on the blog, I have a few tips for mommy's who are trying to wean their babies.

Weaning tips:

Be consistent

I put vinegar on my breast right before Tahir came home from his dad's house and told him " Mom's boob is sour"

He did not like the smell or the taste and did not come back for more that evening

Did he cry you ask? Yes, he cried but, I redirected his attention to games, videos and family members that he likes to speak to on FaceTime

He has been boob free for 9 days now.

He was sick over the weekend so, he did come home looking to be nursed

Mamas and Papas, stay strong! If this is your first time around, I can not stress how important it is to stay consistent.

Godspeed on your potty training and weaning journeys.

xoxo,
