Wonder Woman Wednesday

Happy Wednesday from snowy New York!

As Wonder Woman Wednesdays continue, this week I salute Queen Shanay Oseafiana. A teacher of the New York City Board of Education, a mother of two, a wife, a sister, an encourager, a writer...

Shanay is a long time friend whom I met in the Bronx. We attended the same Junior High School M.S. 127.  As many people do, we lost contact for a few years. When we reconnected as mothers growing into our femininity and spirituality, I knew God was working. What are the odds, that one of your biggest supporters and confidants would be someone you knew a majority of your life but, hardly see in person?

Teaching anywhere can be hard especially when you are a black woman attempting to reach children who are being failed by society and the school system. It is even harder when you love what you do and feel like your best is never enough. I want you to know that as long as you continue to grow and share your knowledge, you will always be enough!

Black women have had to develop a larger vision of our society than perhaps any other group. They have had to understand white men, white women, and black men.And they have had to understand themselves. When black women win victories, it is a boost for virtuallu every segment of society.
