Wonder Woman Wednesday
Being a woman of color who stands for something is more laborious than dope women portray. Living in an age where one's life can be made or broken by a few words and many followers, I feel it is an obligation of women of color to uplift her counterparts. Shining a light on someone can never take away from your luminosity.
Tomorrow starts one of my favorite months- March!
In the commencement of Women's month, I choose to shine a light on a person of influence in not only my life but, New Rochelle, Wynter Parham.
This queen is what I consider to be an underdog. Business Owner, Youth Advocate, Mentor, Teen Coordinator of Boys & Girls Club Remington (BGCR), mother, daughter, friend, to name a few- Parham has a heart of gold. Her dedication and fight for the children of the community are unprecedented amongst young women of color.
Being a person of good morals and character is unfortunately uncommon in society. I am humbled and inspired every day working alongside a person with such dedication every child that crosses her path.
I encourage each of you to shine a light on a Wonder Woman in your circle or one that truly inspires you!
Maya Angelou once said:
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.
