#FreedomFriday: Dear Sisters
Dear Sisters,
We are different shades, shapes, sizes, cultures but, one thing is accurate across the board: We are more alike than any of us would like to admit. We assist in bringing life into this world yet we allow mediocracy to divide us.
"They are stealing our men."
"They want to be us."
"She is cute for a black girl."
"Her attitude is too much, that is why black men don't want to deal with her."
"It is our anniversary, and he canceled to be with his wife."
Let me crystal clear about this, race and colorism are still amongst us today. I am just talking women issues in general at the moment.
We all have had broken hearts.
Fallen victim to at least one Fuckboy and his lies.
Looked in the mirror and disliked what they saw.
Cried because he did not deserve a kiss nevertheless the gold you gave him.
Sexual harassment has come your way a time or a few.
Fewer wages than your beau.
Miscarriages, abortion, abuse, with a newfound little to no self-esteem.
Let us stop belittling ourselves and hurting one another.
Not one of us better than the next, my sisters, may we begin to evolve into the Queens we are born to be.
