Looking Back and Moving Forward

I am still a firm believer in looking back at where you were. When you were are your lowest who was there for you? What got you through the fires of hell that unleashed itself in your life? The gift of writing was always my outlet.

Many are off to a great start in the New Year while others are desperately searching for a tiny bit of peace. Stay strong, beautiful people. The best has yet to come.

Here is a poem from my book Her Muse Overfilled with Ink. Although I  had accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the time, my growing pains were real.

Broken

I’m not talking about records

Like A chest open before surgery

His arm after a bike accident

Or her heart when her love was caught with the prettier girl

Falling out the window that shattered

As tears fell from her eyes

Hearts sinking

The world is quiet

The curtains go down

But there is no one in the theatre to clapAnother person lost

A brother missed

A sister gone

No homicide But Suicide

Darkness that progressed As they forgot how to use their brains

Lost as the difference between wrong and right are warped

  It rains blue

Their faces lean against the window pane

While another cries

Others starve trying to surviveStartled out of sleep

All of a sudden Her problems weren’t so bad

Still she cried

Broken

From thoughts that should have been lost in dreams
Seems so real
This her world
Now getting that C wasn’t such a big deal
 Inspired to do better
Be better
Live better
Encouraged to not except
That a piece of her is still
And will continue to be
  Broken

Now that you have realized it is not worth reverting to where you were,

move forward Kings and Queens!
