Talk to me Tuesday: #HisNameisDeandre
Deandre, this is for you...
There are many evils in this world, but you will prevail. While it took a tragedy to happen for people to learn your name-- we now know your story, sweetheart. Burns and all, you are a gorgeous KING! You are the reason many will pay closer attention to their little boys. While many seemed to think bullying you was cool, you are now obtaining favor from the Lord. I pray healing on your body from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. May you have a speedy recovery, and a full restoration of good health. No weapon formed against you, and your family shall prosper in the precious and glorious name of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
...
My heart sank, and quite frankly, I was a bit perplexed when I heard that Deandre went through such hardships in and outside of school. Bullying and teasing is never the answer. To add insult to injury, Deandre was burned by an associate who befriended him. While visiting the accused, Deandre was lit on fire by use of matches and perfume.
In honor of Deandre, the boy who we knew nothing about before last week, I was led to write this letter.
Parents, please do not trust this world with your little boys and girls.
Teachers, listen to the names that your students call one another. We are not all blessed with the mentality to ignore those who do not call us by the birth name in which we were given.
“He just wanted to be accepted with a friend. He still thinks they’re his friends, and I’m like, ‘They are not your friends.’ ” - Ursula Allen (Deandre's Mom)
This hits home for me as I have two school aged boys. They already see bullying in their school on a low scale but it is present nonetheless. I am praying for our children. I have faith that the Lord will fight this battle for us.
Be aware, bring awareness and shine your light lovely people.
